Student Village at The University of Staffordshire
The University of Staffordshire Student Village is a major campus development located at the university’s main Stoke-on-Trent site. The scheme is designed to deliver high-quality, purpose-built student accommodation alongside a new student hub and enhanced campus environment. The development will provide around 700 new student bedrooms across a mix of cluster blocks and townhouses. Sustainability is central to the scheme, which has been designed using Passivhaus principles and aims to achieve net-zero carbon in operation. Deanestor was appointed by Willmott Dixon Construction to deliver a comprehensive FF&E and furniture fit-out across the residential elements of the project.
Deanestor provided a complete student accommodation furniture package, delivering the fit-out of all bedrooms across four cluster blocks and two townhouses.
The scope of works included:
Beds and mattresses
Study desks and shelving
Wardrobes and storage units
Mirrors, coat hooks, noticeboards
Loose items, including desk chairs
Early engagement was a key part of the project’s success. Deanestor worked closely with Willmott Dixon Construction during the initial stages, including the development of a sample bedroom. This enabled both the contractor and University of Staffordshire to review and visualise the final design before the main installation programme began, helping to align expectations and refine the specification. The importance of this collaborative approach was reflected in feedback from the main contractor: “Deanestor have provided the FF&E for Willmott Dixon Construction at University of Staffordshire’s brand-new student village at Lordship Lane, Stoke on Trent. The scope of works is the fit out of all bedrooms across the 4no. cluster blocks and 2no. townhouses including the blinds installation and loose furniture for communal areas. The experience with Deanestor has been enjoyable to date, as a company they have offered flexibility to meet evolving programme/project requirements and we as Main Contractor are pleased with the product that that has been delivered. We also engaged with Deanestor on the sample bedroom during the early phases of the project which really benefitted both WDC and the University who could visually see what we were going to deliver before we started the main works on project ”
